Caroline Lucas has answered questions on the BBC in sombre mood saying she is personally devastated by the result.
Speaking live to David Dimbleby on the live BBC broadcast, the Green MP said she didn’t feel the referendum was just about the EU but the agenda of austerity set by the Government that called the election.
“The EU was a kind of proxy for a legitimate feeling of anger… so much throughout this campaign were blamed on immigration.”
“There was never any clarity from the Leave campaign on how they would wave a wand and reduce immigration. Some of the people hurting the most from economic austerity will find that they will be the ones hit most by this decision.”
