Association of Green Councillors - Annual Conference

9 June 2015

The Association of Green Councillors is now taking bookings for our annual conference which is this year being held in the Suffolk town of Stowmarket. Both Councillors and aspiring Councillors are welcome!

Stowmarket is the home town of Mid Suffolk Green Party, who with five
councillors and together with independents are the main opposition to the
Conservatives in the area.
The conference will run from Friday evening 24 July to Sunday afternoon 26th July. There are good train links from Cambridge, Peterborough and London Liverpool Street. Stowmarket train station is a 10 minute walk from the venue. Accommodation is a bit more limited than usual, so make sure you can get some before booking for the conference itself. Stowmarket is a small market town so it is easy to get around. There are two guest houses/hotels close by the town centre and a Travelodge about 2.5 miles away - an easy bike ride if you bring your bicycle on the train. Sessions will include a brainstorming ideas for new town and parish councillors, discussion on what our councillors should do in the face of austerity measures, how our messaging can help win elections in Tory areas and a tour of the music venue the John Peel Centre, created in honour of the town's late DJ resident. We will have a welcome curry/meal at a restaurant close to the train station on Friday night. The cost, with an early bird discount is £20 to those who are not paying a subscription to the AGC and £15 to those who are.
