Recent Elections
The Green Party burst onto the political stage in South Devon when Paula Black was elected Councillor for the Totnes Rural seat in the June 2009 Devon County Council Election.
This success was quickly followed by another win when Jacqi Hodgson was elected to the Totnes Town Council in the Bridgetown Ward by-election in July 2009. Shortly thereafter the Green Party gained a second seat on Totnes Town Council when Alan Gorman won the the November 2009 Bridgetown Ward by-election.
In March 2010 the Green Party gained a third seat on Totnes Town Council when Anna Lunk won the by-election held for the Totnes Town ward.
Clearly the Green Party is going from strength to strength, with election results to match its phenomenal increase in membership.
The South Devon Green Party fielded a full slate of 19 candidates in the South Hams and Teignbridge areas in the 2009 Devon County Election. It won 8,823 votes which was 11.7% of the total, putting the Green Party in 3rd place overall and well ahead of Labour and UKIP.
A big thanks goes out to those who supported us in these elections. These votes send a clear Green political message and we are proud of having given so many people the opportunity to vote for what they truly believe in.
